Bitter Sweet

Well, summer vacation has come to an end and school is back in session. This is always a bitter sweet time of year for me. I LOVE to have the kids home and to be schedule free but, after a while I must say I look forward to having things back "in order" again. I think this summer was just the right amount of time.

Now with school back in, swimming, football and cheer leading going strong, I may be eating me words!! lol No no no, things are going great so far. I hope you and your families are enjoying the start on the new school year too! So here's to a great, fun and successful year to all!!

With that said I hate to say it but it is time to plan for your holiday photos!

The early bird gets the worm this year. I am already filling up quickly and currently only have Sundays available for weekends. SO please call asap to set your time.

This year the holiday deadline will be November 16th to have your photos taken and all orders will need to be placed by November 23rd.

Keep posted for the Holiday Mini Sessions!!!
I will be posting the dates and times for this special later today.
This is going to be great for those of you who just want a quick session to get those holiday photos to send out.

and the winner is....

Hey everyone!

That was so much fun & pretty great for a first time contest!!
(We just might have to make this a regular thing!)

We received quite a few firework photos, so many it was actually pretty hard to choose just one winner. There were many different, fun and exciting images. We had some super ones of the kids with sparklers. Some from a local marina, very nice with the dock and boats in view. But, the best goes to Linda C. from Clearwater. Linda's image captured the whole story. Shot at Coachman Park, Clearwater.

A super shot of the crowd, the bandstand, the water & of course the fireworks!!
Great job!

Linda wins a free photo session, for the kids or the whole family! Congratulations!

Keep posted, I will be announcing a new contest in the next couple of days!

How was your 4th???

Hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday and spent time with family & friends!

How was the firework display? Send me your favorite shots from the celebration, and somebody will win a FREE photo session! We will choose the winner on Monday the 7th.

We enjoyed the firework display close to home, here in Ozona. The community all went in together to donate the money for an awesome firework display! It really was super!

Here are a few images I was able to capture. Enjoy!

Photographing Fireworks!

The 4th of July is fast approaching, only a couple days away! Every summer our family really looks forward to the 4th of July firework celebration and, I thought it might be nice to share a few tips & tricks with you for photographing the fireworks.
So grab your cameras and lets give this a go!

There are many different ways to shoot fireworks, this is what works for me.
Here we go...

1. The most important thing is going to be keeping your camera as still as possible. If you have a tri pod, you'll want to use it. If you don't have one, you can use a table or try sitting down and holding the camera tight between your knees. Whatever you can think of that will allow the camera to shoot without shaking.

2.Manual setting is the key here. Set you camera to Manual Mode (M) don't be scared, you can do it!

3.Setting your ISO (film speed) For the best, deep and rich color we want a low ISO. Set your camera to 100. This is where you tri pod is going to really help out.

4.Aperture, set this between F11. This is how long your shutter will stay open, it allows the light in to record the image. The aperture is what we use to decide how much of the back ground we want in focus & detail. For fireworks we want lots of detail. I find F11 to work best for me.

5.Your ready! As soon as you hear the fireworks launch, press your shutter release button. Do this gently trying not to shake the cameras. The shutter is going to take a few seconds to close, it is recording the the image. You will be able to hear it close.

You can test this out before the show. Buy some sparklers and have your kids use them tonight. Have them dance & twirl around. Be sure your camera is on a tri pod or placed on something that is going to keep it still. If all goes as planned, you should see a trail of light in all the directions from your sparkler.

Okay, that's it! Take lots of pictures and most of all have fun!!!

Send me your favorites, we'll vote on the best one. Whoever has the winning shot, wins a free photo session! Good Luck!!!
